30 Best Cookies to Ship in the Mail

Thinking about shipping some cookies to a faraway friend or family member?

Shipping cookies to a loved one is one of the best, kindest, and most sincere gifts we can think of. Nothing is more special than receiving a box with special treats that you not only took the time to bake yourself, but also tenderly packaged in a box and got in the mail. That’s love.

So we gathered all our favorite cookies from Simply Recipes that would be great shipped in the mail along with some helpful advice on making sure they get there intact.

What's in Season in December?

What’s in Season in December?

What’s in Season in December?

Hello December and welcome to month 12 of our monthly Seasonal Produce Guides!

We are finishing up the year with an explosion of color, from garnet beets to saffron orange clementines, and purple cauliflower (what will they think of next?) to emerald kiwifruit

While we can still find pomegranates, apples, and pears in the market, it’s because they store well chilled. Those harvests are mostly over and what are coming in now are the first of the citrus — mandarine oranges. Buy them by the boxful!

This is a great time for brassicas — cauliflower, romanesco broccoli, kohlrabi, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, collards and kale. And of course we couldn’t start winter without root vegetables like turnips and beets, or winter squashes like butternut and kabocha.

With all of this abundance, it’s time to share recipe ideas for what to make with December produce!

Top Recipes This Week (Sneak Peek: Peanut Butter Blossoms!)

Latest recipes from Simply Recipes.

Hi, friends!
I hope you had a great week. Was it just me or did it really fly by?

I've made a promise to myself to check some things off my list early this year to avoid that holiday frenzy, and I'm starting by stocking the pantry for holiday baking. If you're looking to add a few new cookie recipes to your repertoire, we're featuring classic Peanut Butter Blossoms and Elise's delicious Ginger Biscotti this week. Both are great for cookie exchanges, hostess gifts, or just plain snacking!

And if you're still in the mode of taking a deep breath before diving back into holiday cooking and baking, I'll point you to our recent post on How to Cook Dried Beans. I think you'll appreciate it and may even learn something new!

Regardless of what you end up cooking this week, I hope it turns out famously and you get to share it with people that make you happy.

Simply Recipes 2018 Meal Plan: December Week 1

This month, we welcome back Marta Rivera for more of her meal plans. Marta is a trained chef, mom of twins, and Army wife – and she is also one of our Simply Recipes recipe testers!

December is here and with it comes a few of my favorite winter veggies: beets, kale, and sweet potatoes. And, of course, cranberries and pomegranates!

After Thanksgiving, stores are looking to unload any additional inventory of cranberries, so you may be able to find them at great prices.

And now let’s dip our toes into a new season with fresh flavors, and meals to look forward to. Who’s ready to cook?

THIS WEEK: Pasta with Butternut Parmesan Sauce, Chicken and Dumplings, Plantain Lasagna and more!
