Simply Recipes 2018 Meal Plan: November Week 4

This month, please welcome Aaron Hutcherson and his November meal plans! Aaron is a regular contributor here on Simply Recipes and the blogger behind The Hungry Hutch.

Congratulations! You survived Thanksgiving!

If your family is anything like mine, there are still some remnants of the big meal lingering about in the fridge. So to kick things off, I’ve started with a recipe to try to use up the last of those leftovers.

Now that Thanksgiving is behind us, maybe you’re looking ahead to the December holidays? Whatever it is that you do or don’t celebrate, there’s something that’s so special about this time of year. The joy and revelry becomes almost palpable in the air. And, of course, home cooking helps ground us during this busy season. Happy to have you along for the ride!

THIS WEEK: Pork Tenderloin with Figs and Olives, Pumpkin Ricotta Gnocchi, Ham and Cheese Pasta Bake and more!

How to Host an Easy Holiday Brunch

How to Host an Easy Holiday Brunch

How to Host an Easy Holiday Brunch

This email is brought to you in partnership with Cuisinart.

Ready or not, the holiday entertaining season is upon us!

Whether you're a natural and pull off parties with ease or find yourself pacing and making numerous to-do lists, we've got all the help you need to pull off a stress-free and festive brunch this year!

First thing's first: you're going to need coffee. If you've got a pesky aunt, challenging in-laws or a house full of kids, you're going to need a lot of coffee.

Enter the Cuisinart Coffee Center, a true brunch savior: you can make a big 12-cup pot to get everyone going, but you can also take advantage of the single-brew function to fuel yourself as you prep in the morning.

A Simple Brunch Spread
Now that everyone's adequately caffeinated and milling about, what's on tap for the food? This year we're all about reheating make-ahead recipes that we tackled in advance; who wants to actually cook while trying to chat with family and friends?

Looking for inspiration? Here's a few of our favorite make-ahead brunch recipes:

Bagel Breakfast Casserole with Sausage, Egg and Cheese
Baked Blueberry French Toast Casserole
Smoked Salmon, Dill and Goast Cheese Quiche
Chocolate Cranberry Zucchini Muffins

Keep the Kids Occupied
While all of the adults are sitting down with a slice of quiche and a cup of coffee, we're big fans of corralling the kids. Setting up a separate area for them with easy cold cuts and fruit helps keep them busy for at least a little while – the most anyone can ask for, really.

Post-Brunch Hangs
After brunch, guests will typically cozy up and linger, and this is a great time to offer a little pick-me-up with an individually brewed cup of coffee. Whether your guests are feeling like a light roast or cup of decaf, you can accommodate everyone easily with the touch of a button! And of course, The Coffee Center isn't a bad gift to give (and to get) — so if treating yourself or a good friend is in the cards this year, this is a fine place to land.

Top Recipes This Week (Sneak Peek: Pecan Pie Bars!)

Latest recipes from Simply Recipes.

Hi, everyone! Happy Thanksgiving!

Buddy check: how are you feeling right now? Stressed? Nervous? Excited? Ready for feasting? All of the above?! Thanksgiving is actually one of my favorite holidays of the year. I love gathering with friends and family, cooking together, and then spending the afternoon happily ensconced at the table, feasting and making merry.

Here are few tips that I've picked up over the years:
* The more that you can do ahead, the better. Trust me on this one. This week's Green Bean Casserole and Sweet Potato Casserole are both good for that.
* If you're nervous about something, ask for help. Let Grandma help with the turkey or delegate the pie to your cousin who loves to bake. It takes a village to make Thanksgiving dinner and you don't have to do everything yourself!
* Make sure you have pre-dinner snacks. Even if you're on target to serve dinner on schedule, you will inevitably have guests hovering in the kitchen hoping for a nibble. Set out trays of crackers, cheese, and dried fruit to keep them satisfied until dinner.
* Don't sweat the small stuff. Ok, so your turkey is a little dry or the mashed potatoes aren't as perfectly creamy as you intended. It's all good. Is there food on the table? Is everyone smiling and talking to each other? Is there pie and ice cream to look forward to? If so, then you've done your job!

At the end of the day, with bellies full, no one will remember little oopsies. Pour yourself a glass of wine and settle in with some pie -- you definitely deserve it! Cheers!

XOXO
